How Has Your Summer Been?

Updated: Mar 21, 2022

Yesterday, on Facebook I saw that a couple of my friends posted that they went to the beach.

Going to the beach is one of my favorite things to do. One of my favorite places to visit is the shore of the beach – any shore. I like walking right where the water and the sand meet. I feel very peaceful and it’s a place where I can just “be” rather “do.”

So, have I gone to the beach? Not yet. I do need to schedule it.

What have you been doing this summer? Have things changed for you because of the pandemic? What goals do you have for the summer? Is your summer different from last year?

There have been quite a few things different for me this summer than last year because of the pandemic. For the past several years in June, I do an annual training – both online and in-person — for the school district where I work as a substitute teacher. This year, I didn’t do this training. Due to COVID-19, the district where I work is doing distance education.

Another thing that was different is that my husband and I didn’t take our annual anniversary trip. We usually go somewhere for our anniversary, which is on July 2. We usually have many pictures during our trips. For this year, I realized later that we didn’t even take one.single.picture during our anniversary. We had planned to treat ourselves to a nice dinner at Black Angus. But, we got a call saying that our reservation was cancelled due to rising COVID cases.

Bummer. Restaurants just had the go-ahead to open, but then they had to close again.

We did still have our Black Angus dinner for our anniversary with take-out. Now, restaurants are open again where I live in California if they provide outside dining.

This summer, I’ve been working on narrating some books. This is something new for me. I had always wondered how someone gets to narrate a book, and I was happy to get started with this new endeavor of mine since I hadn’t been substitute teaching due to the pan… – you know.

Another thing I decided to do, partly due to the pandemic was to order a Tower Garden. I just learned about it when the pandemic started, but because of the cost, I decided to pass on getting one. And also I didn’t think I could grow plants. I’ve tried so many, many times.

Well, what made me change my mind about getting a Tower Garden?

  1. The person whom I learned about the Tower Garden says she’s a “brown thumb” and yet she posts pictures with beautiful vegetables!

  2. I found out that there’s a payment plan for the Tower Garden.

  3. I figured if someone who says she’s a “brown thumb” has beautiful veggies, well, I could do it too – with her help. I realized that all the times I ventured into gardening, I haven’t had that much help on how to do it. I took it as a challenge for me. I’ll let you know how it goes for me.

Now, I need to schedule going to the beach for the summer? I’ll share with you some pictures…

Oh, now that I mentioned pictures….

Another thing I did this summer was to get an iPhone. Do you have an iPhone? With the cell phone I had before, I kept running out of memory, so I didn’t really take pictures with it.

Back to what I was saying…

I’ll share with you some pictures on my personal Facebook page when I go to the beach this summer.

Do you like going to the beach?  Have you gone to the beach?

I’d be interested to see a picture of you at the beach. You can “friend” me on Facebook.
